Muslins for cleansing

Well, I have finally finished my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser which I got for Christmas.  I did really like this cleanser, but at £21.50 not so much that I replaced it when it ran out (my full review is on BeautyJudge here).

Before using this cleanser, I had never used a muslin cloth for cleansing.  I thought I would try using just the muslin with my current cleanser - Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser (approx £3.49) - to see if it was the Liz Earle cleanser or the cloth which was delivering most of the benefits I felt.

Well, the muslin was brilliant with my Neutrogena cleanser.  Why didn’t I do this before?  Why isn’t a muslin a more standard thing to use with cleanser?!  Do you use a muslin with your cleanser?

All the bumpy bits around my nose were eliminated, just as they are when I use the Liz Earle cleanser.  Duh….stands to reason now I think about it! 

Looking around, they aren’t impossible to come by – you can find them in Boots.  If you haven’t already tried a muslin with your cleanser, this could be a good thing to do with your next £5 No7 voucher, as the No7 muslins are £4.40.

(Ps. If you’re wondering whether you can just use baby muslins, personally I would say no.  Facial muslins are a lot finer – I wouldn’t use my baby’s muslins on my face the way I use these!)

I am yet to check out whether the muslin you can buy in fabric shops is as fine as facial cloth muslin.  If so, at approx £1.90 per metre this would be an incredible bargain!
